There are mysteries and then there are thrilling mysteries. Drayton, (The Taker), by Tony Bertauski is one of those thrilling mysteries. At first, I was confused (which is exactly what the author wanted to do), but once I began to see through the haze, I realized how clever the tale was...
Drayton is something. Yup, something, and he's using his life... as different as it is, to make a sort of amends. He's righting situations for people who were wronged, as a sort of penance for his own wrong-doings. But it's how he accomplishes such a goal that makes his story so interesting.
Bertauski has a way of making you latch on to the read and not let go. The wording had to be exactly right. Perspectives had to be exactly right. EVERYTHING was exactly right, in order for this story to work. I'm thinking it was so cool, I'm interested in the series. I also hope you've noticed I'm being a bit cryptic on purpose. If I told you what happened in this story, what Drayton does, it would ruin it for you, and you know how I feel about SPOILERS!
So grab yourself the short story Drayton (The Taker), and find out what I'm talking about. I just know you'll enjoy it!
