For the longest time, I felt I was a failure at being an author. It always seemed to take me forever to get something of significance finished, and what I wrote never felt complete. What in the world was I doing?
Today, I still feel it's taking me the longest to get anything (my novel) finished, but my short stories seem to strike like lightning! I have one short in the hands of the anthology owner currently, while another's being prepared to be shipped over with another publisher. I feel like I'm on fire!
What the Heck Is Going On With Me?
I can not even begin to tell you how disappointed in myself I have become! Grrr!!! I mean seriously, I have made some awesome changes and advances with and for me, in general, but my book is still a bit slow. Why is that? Well, I'm about to tell you!
But first, this months' blog is about Progress. How I've managed to do somethings, even though they're not my main things, when it comes to writing. I'm proud but I am still not where I want to be. I am in need of becoming my own solution.
So how does one go about doing that?
Do you know what you're going to accomplish this summer?
I'm so excited- June is coming!
A full month of a break from school. My son's going back to my home state to visit my brother, his wife and son. He's going to Disneyland and I will be all by myself! During the evening hours anyway. So what does that mean for me? If you guessed Full Household Cleaning Spree, you're right but that's besides the point. The major thing here is: I get to WRITE, interruption-free, for a full month!
My getaway to Blue Ridge Mountains was absolutely amazing! This place was more than I could have asked for during the Thanksgiving holiday. With no cleaning or cooking, I managed to not only relax and catch a cold, but I started and finished a short story, inspired by this location and my amazing husband- who gets killed in the story!
It's not really about him, but the namesake's there.

Who Am I?
My name's Alyssa and I'm just like you. Within me are stories, looking to be told. I do my best to relay them to the public, as magically as possible.
