Maria Spada, designer
Hi! I'm Maria Spada, 28 years, and my life revolves around books. I am not just a book cover designer, but I am also a book seller and collector. I began doing digital work at age 15 when I discovered Photoshop by accident. I was self-taught, did a lot of practice and failed a lot of times as well. I initially worked as a freelance graphic artist--doing logos, banners and many other stuff. I only started designing book covers in 2015 when my writer friend asked me to recreate her covers, which was something I immediately loved. I dropped my other jobs and officially became a freelance book cover designer.

I am not very picky when it comes to designing book covers but if there is any genre which I am very good at then I'd say Fantasy, or anything that involves a lot of special effects and lights, like Sci-Fi and Paranormal. Contemporary romance is probably the least favorite of mine, maybe because I do not get to put a lot of magical effects on it hehe.
My greatest, I believe, is perhaps The Clay Lion series by Amalie Jahn, a YA series about a girl who travels back in time to save the person she loves. The design process took me two months, but the end result was satisfying and rewarding. I also got my own copies of the series and I've never been more proud.
I make both covers, e-book and print. And I love both! But if I were to choose I'd prefer physical books, something I could sniff. I love sniffing pages. Hehe.
A woman's face or a full body of a woman, magical-looking landscape background and some light leaks and glowing effects about her.
My current muse and inspiration is a man who introduced me to amazing new music and artists I have never heard of before, and these things are directly making a huge influence on my designs. Now I'm experimenting on grunge and gothic style and effects, which are really cool additions to my portfolio and also an advantage for future projects.

Who Am I?
My name's Alyssa and I'm just like you. Within me are stories, looking to be told. I do my best to relay them to the public, as magically as possible.
