To me, book covers are everything! If your cover looks like a hot mess, I guarantee you, many will pass you over. It has to practically captivate and entrance. So this month, I reached out to two premade book cover designers. I wanted to know why they do what they do for us authors and a little about themselves.
My first bookcover share is from Parz Book Covers (@parzbookcovers). We follow each other on Instagram and they're covers look pretty awesome. Check out why he does it.
Please introduce yourself, tell what your specialty is and how you began.
Hello, I'm Parvez Ahmed from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I started my career as freelance graphic designer. But when I started with books, I just felt like this is the stuff I really enjoy most, and that I really want to do it more. I also like to reading books from my childhood and that's also inspire me to build my career as a book cover designer.
Do you enjoy creating for any particular genre of books more than the other? Why?
I like thriller and fantasy genre stuff’s like movies and books. But most of the time design depends on my current inspiration and a book’s story.
What’s your greatest book cover? Did you create it yourself from scratch and do you have a copy to share?
I can’t just pick one, I love all of them in some sort of way. Yes I do my book covers design from scratch. Here are some of my book covers.
Do you make full cover? Do you prefer ebook covers over physical books?
Yes I do full full book cover design. I prefer both ebooks and physical books.
If you create any sort of book cover, from the ideas that are always in your head (because creators are always creating), what would it be and what is your muse?
Not always in my head! Most of the times authors tell their story and I start to think creatively how to tell this story in one page of book cover throughout the readers. I’m mostly inspired from Chip Kidd.
Book cover images belong to Parz Book Cover Designs.
Who Am I?
My name's Alyssa and I'm just like you. Within me are stories, looking to be told. I do my best to relay them to the public, as magically as possible.
