Using NaNoWriMo 2017 to finally get my novel together!
2017 has been an amazing year for me! I've lost a lot of weight, started an amazing novel back in January, got in a month's worth of world travel, and started teaching 8th grade! Yes, I've been busy indeed. I also got sick, started a few home projects that went south and moved my daughter and woks to Alabama. In case you didn't notice, those are my negatives. BUT most of all, concerning my fav hobby- I'm working on my first, up & coming Indie Novel: The Malignant Soul!
I've been writing. A lot. But not as much as I'd originally wanted. I needed a lot to of this book to come from actual experience. I wanted to actually know what a wind across the moors felt like, the bleeting of sheep sounded like and even the taste of haggis...
November is NaNoWriMo 2017 and I'm ready now. So far I've written Part One of my book, but I'm using the challenge to help me finish things off. I want to actually finish it this time. I know, it'll probably be a stack of crap, but isn't that the point? To get something done, then later use time, skill and finesse to complete it? That's what I use it for anyway.
I used July through today to gather notes, sticky notes, photos and video to put thins into perspective. I think Ch. 1 is perfect. Two is okay, but it needs some work. Chapter 3 has been totally revamped and I think it was completely necessary. I printed off everything I'd written and shuffled the pages a bit. When this all ends on November 30th, I expect this book to be done! For the final
The best part is that I already have the ISBN number for it, along with an actual cover. I'm so excited and can't wait to share it. For now, it'll stay tucked away, safe on my iMac.But I can say that if you're a part of my newsletter crew, you can see an awesome piece of it on my hidden page.that's not really hidden but you don't have access unless you've signed up for the newsletter! Whew; that was a lot!
So on the NaNoWriMo website, here's what TMS looks like. Each day it holds stats as to how many words I've written, averages and all that good stuff. I can't wait to get going. I think Saturday, I receive a fresh stack of my manuscript that's been previously written. Lots of that will be changing, making the first half of this challenge fairly easy. It's bringing it all to a head and closing that's the hardest part. Any author will tell you that.
I hope you enjoy this with me, and if you're participating, Hey! Let me know! Find me on the website so we can become buddies or something!
Who Am I?
My name's Alyssa and I'm just like you. Within me are stories, looking to be told. I do my best to relay them to the public, as magically as possible.
