My getaway to Blue Ridge Mountains was absolutely amazing! This place was more than I could have asked for during the Thanksgiving holiday. With no cleaning or cooking, I managed to not only relax and catch a cold, but I started and finished a short story, inspired by this location and my amazing husband- who gets killed in the story!
It's not really about him, but the namesake's there.
November is a stressful month for me. I've taken on NaNoWriMo every year, since discovering it, and though I feel it doesn't improve my actual writing, it does challenge me. The push is, in all honestly, therapeutic. I kid you not, every night while in the mountains, I soaked in either the hot tub or jetted tub, feeling as though I'd been put through the ringer. I know, it doesn't sound relaxing, but it was. I promise.
I am now currently in the midsts of editing The Wisher's Orb, re-writing Nightmare, re-reading the short I wrote last week (Current Title: Dear Shelley) and finishing my NaNoNovel, The Malignant Soul. It's crazy! Not to mention I'm working an outline with my daughter. With any hopes, it'll release around Halloween 2018. I'm so full and not from the turkey- since I don't eat it!
Which leads me in to one of my plans for next year. I am going to slow down. On my reading. Since re-reading Nightmare, I realized my first stories were lacking a great deal of detail and emotion. They were basic and curt, as someone important explained in a courteous and professional manner. So after I complete my current projects, I am going to go back to my previous releases. I'm going to fix my tales, doing my darndest to make my second impression outshine my first. Now that I'm independent, I'll have complete control and can make that happen.
I'm not doing this in hopes of becoming some best-selling author (though one day it would be nice). I am doing this because it's what I enjoy. Giving it MY absolute best is the goal. I hope you also watch as my site changes. So many new things are coming with the new year. Stick with me!
Who Am I?
My name's Alyssa and I'm just like you. Within me are stories, looking to be told. I do my best to relay them to the public, as magically as possible.
