This book was everything I'd hoped it to be. It was nothing like the previous books I'd read and that made me 100% happy with it. So happy, I'm going to see the movie as well.
So I guess you're wondering why I enjoyed this one so much? What set this YA novel apart from the others? Well, number one reason...It wasn't all about Romance and Death. No, this book was all about life and enjoying it to the fullest! What can be better than that?
My last few "haunting" reads haven't been very haunting. I love a good scare, but lately they've been far and between. When I found Roger Hayden's The Haunting of Bechdel Mansion, I was looking for something pretty darned good.
I'm not going to lie, if it were not for the fact that I had a couple of books behind this one, I'd have dived right in to book 1- it's hold was that tight on me! Just the introduction to the story of Bechdel Mansion was enough. Though I found a couple of typographical errors, the story maintained a fluidity that allowed me to finish the reading in just over an hour.
Come with me, into The Haunting of Bechdel Mansion...
Now you all know me, yeah? By now, you know I am not one to just blatantly go negative on a book. Movies and tv shows, I say whatever I want. One of my favorite short stories, The Mist by Stephen King (p. 21 of Skeleton Crew) has been morphed into something akin to the Great One's story. And they did NOT do it for the better...
Yup- you read that correctly! Clowntergeist is today's movie review. It's a mash-up of Pennywise the clown and your worst poltergeist-like nightmare, but with balloonage! It's about a college student coming face to face with her worst fear: clowns. But this clown is different. With a face like that, I could easily develop a case of coulrophobia!
So what were my thoughts on this gruesome picture?
A thrill of a tale!
Guest of Honor, by Mark S. R. Peterson is all about revenge and how clever victims can be in exacting said revenge.
A girl is looking for a new start and hitchhiking to the nearest metropolis is her easiest way to get there. When she's offered a ride by a cheerful, talkative insurance man, she wonders if her thumbing a ride was the best thing. Especially after she agrees to ride, with him, to his nearest clients along the way. She's actually in for the ride of her life!

Thank goodness for getting on reviewer lists! Though The Z Virus doesn't carry a huge budget, it's pretty cool, and episodes 3 and 4 do not fail to keep the story going. I just wish it was a bit longer, to not have to wait so long in-between!
