First Born is a movie that chills. I happened upon it by accident, and happy I watched. The movie, takes you on a journey, with a couple who's just given birth to their first born daughter. But she's added to a lineage of troubles that run spiritually deep.
Charlie and James are a cute couple. Happy in their home, they discover they're having a child. Totally unprepared, they take on the challenge and regret nothing... at first. Later, they find there's something in their home, attached to their daughter Thea. It moves the infant about the house and attacks her parents.
It's not till they reach out to James's despondent father, that they find out what's taking place in their home has been the "Norm" for his side of the family. They seek help and try their best to battle the entity, but find they need more in order to survive and keep their little girl safe.
First Born was pretty good, though I saw no positive or negative reviews. I thought the story original and the acting of all three main characters perfect- especially the girl who played Thea. Though I saw a change coming, the creature turned out to be a slight disappointment, but that's okay! I still felt consumed enough to share in a review.
The movie was haunting and filled with enough spookiness that I never felt bored or disinterested. I think the writer, producer and director took great care to make this a movie that, honestly should have captured more attention.
Check out First Born, available on Netflix.
