My beautiful friend, Terry McCally is an author of faith. I've known her for at least seven or eight years and what she writes is from the heart and with purpose. Here an opportunity for you to get to know her and what she's about. I guarantee- if you're looking for a reason to write, listen to her story; you may feel the same way!
Alyssa: What made you want to publish a story, book, or novel?
Terry: I have been thinking about writing for years. It has also been suggested by several persons that I should write a book. I think my life has been full of everything an interesting book should have. Writing this would be a very cathartic experience and an opportunity some of myself with others.
Alyssa: What inspired your story and is it still burning within you to this day? Why?
Terry: Thirty years ago a professional person suggested that I should write a book about my life. I have thought about writing it ever since. I would like to write it as true fiction meaning that the basics are authentically true, but the names of the characters would be fictional and some of the situations could differ.
Alyssa: Many authors know exactly what they want to see on their cover; have you envisioned yours?
Terry: I have envisioned what the cover would be like and also the name of the book. Right now I want to call it, "Climbing the Mulberry Tree." The cover would be a large, beautiful Mulberry tree covered in berries. In the background would be a large field with a big old two-story house and a red barn.
Alyssa: What is your story (give your title here) about?
Terry: The story would be about a large family living in the country from the perspective of the second oldest child, and also her journey from birth to current day. Believe me--this story would not be a sappy Walton's type of read.
Alyssa: Who is your targeted group and why? Who are you writing to?
Terry: I want my audience to be adult women particularly, although I would hope it would appeal to men, as well. It would be for anyone who has had a difficult and painful past and has found or is looking for redemption and acceptance.
Alyssa: Please share anything about yourself you’d love future readers to know.
Terry: I love anything creative; photography, sewing, landscaping, floral arranging, interior design--anything that deals with aesthetics is my passion! I love music and my instrument of choice is my voice! Crime shows, movies and offerings like Dateline and 48 hours are the programs that capture and hold my interest. But first and foremost I am a Christian and I owe everything I am to the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Terry, thank you so much and many blessings to you. I can't wait to share your completed work once published.
