This short story, Ravenous by Gerard Harrison, is about returning to the past. And maybe even reclaiming it? When he was a little boy, Richard and a childhood friend went on a group trip to a family cabin. The boys venture into the woods one evening and something happens that changes his family, and their friends forever. He's also left with a phobia of the forest and any place woodsy. Its not until Richard's friends try to break his fears that the story truly deepens. There's something in the woods, and Richard comes face to face with it, one more.
For a short story, this wasn't bad. I enjoyed it, as fast of a read as it was. It was a bit odd though, but college students are a breed of their own. From orgy-like activities (all of them swimming nude together, that's not normal for me and any of my besties), to sleeping with one another's girls, the story was weird but the action was original and refreshing.
I was hoping for a bigger ending, but I can't complain. First, it was free, and secondly it was a short story. If you like your creature-features with some crazy-weird, this is your tale. Ravenous is available, FREE on Amazon.com. Read it!
