As you may recall, I reviewed The Girl With All the Gifts, back in January of this year. It was one of those books (audiobook) that intrigued me, yet left me wanting. I don't know if I wanted more or if I just wanted it all to end, but I dove into it with hope. I think I rated it around a 3-star, possibly 4, but that would have been pushing it. The question is: What did I think of the movie, now that I'd finally watched?
As you know, I'm a die-hard Anglophile, so they could literally do anything and I'd be all: Yay! Go Britain!
Not this time...
I finally got around to watching the movie. The Girl With All the Gifts was a yawn of a story. Quite literally, I yawned and even fell asleep about three times. Granted, I was lying in bed while watching- but I kept going to sleep! For me, the movie was just like the book (not exactly but enough). The long gaps of conversation with nothing taking place was near matching. And again, I asked, why is this a gift? What will it do for the future of the world- especially since the Lord of the Flies thing was still in there. Have you read this book? I don't want to say too much. You know, me and the whole not giving SPOILERS thing.
So in the end, I didn't really like TGWATG. I think I died and became a Hungry while watching. I'm such a dolt, because I bought this movie...
