A Novel by Mary Kubica
Sometimes the twist is never seen, till it's revealed. Thankfully for me, I saw it coming. LOL I really did! IF you're on my Goodreads.com page, you'll see where I made a comment during my 'progress' post; I knew it was coming! Just nothing concerning the delivery.
This is The Good Girl, by Mary Kubica and here is my review...
Chloe is damaged. She'd been through a devastating encounter which changed her life. Something's on her mind, something telling her she's not okay and the emotional trauma she'd endured can never be forgotten.
Mia has always been the good girl. No, she didn't follow the plan her father had set for her life, but it's her life, right? No, she doesn't make a lot of money, continuing the posh lifestyle the lineage of old money had boasted before; she loves her job. But someone's been watching her. Someone who knows enough about her to lure her in and remove her from the world she knows, but do they really know her? Does anyone?
A lot of people claimed this book was supposed to have been comparable to Gone Girl and found themselves upset. I never read nor saw Gone Girl, so I had nothing to compare it to. So I read.
The Good Girl was an interesting story, but it wasn't excellent. I figured it out- I believe one of my comments in Goodreads said it all. Be began to lose interest in the story and simply wanted to know how it all ended. I believe I was a good girl though, by simply pushing through to the final pages. Once I hit the epilogue, which told me what I already knew, I was let down. Also, I didn't like the explanation.
The story's good but it just took way too long to get there. I won't say what happened but when you read it, you're gonna be like:
What the heck man? Cpt. Picard style. You'll feel sorta robbed, but not in a terrible way. It just won't be what you were looking for. You'll see, unless you figure it out too. I'm off to the next read. Cheers!
