Before I go into the book reviews, I have to remind you- I am a lover of book covers. Whenever I see a good looking cover, matched with an amazing blurb, I scribble the author and title onto a list that rests beneath my Mac. I later travel that list and seek them out on B&N.com for purchase. I do this regularly, except when I love the covers so much, I desire them directly from the author, with hopes of getting it sighed too! Both wishes came true with the Legends Saga!
Okay, so now that you know the book covers are Eye Candy and amazing to behold, know that these are not to be Shelf Pretties. These books pack punch and are so good- you... you, I just know you'll be blown away! Let's start with book one, Crane!
Crane is the story of Ireland Crane (I love that name). She's left behind a wreck of a life, looking to start fresh in Sleepy Hollow. She's seen all the movies and rad all the books, but to become a part of the legacy? Nuh-uh!
When she finds a strange man with a very popular name, sleeping in a hidden room in the basement of the home she's renting, all things go from bad to worse. But this person's got information that could possibly save Ireland and the residents of Sleepy Hollow (Tarrytown) from the blades of the Horseman, who seems to be riding again!
This book blew me away! The way Rourke took the legendary Sleepy Hollow tale and built a monumental story that truly gave honor to Irving's essays and short stories- just Wow!. I was supposed to have put it down for a book tour read- I refused! I had to finish Crane first! The book is actually two stories that mesh into one. Both were tight, easy to follow and complimented so there was no confusion whatsoever. It honestly reminded me of the tv show, Sleepy Hollow- a huge compliment! I love that show too! There was only one issue I found in the book.
There was a small part where Ireland was fussing at her uncle; she made a comment, calling him calling him 'Cal El'. I was like "OH NO! I love the Kryptonian reference, but his name is Kal El! LOL I'm a Superman fanatic! Other than that- the book is pure perfection. I loved it! Now I can read the ebook for my up-coming book tour without any regrets. Then I'm diving into the book 2, Raven! Woohoo...
You will laugh quite a bit- because someone in this story is just the comic relief. I won't say who, but when you find out, you're gonna crack up too! I easily see this being a movie, no lie. Read this book!

In book two of The Legends Saga, Ireland is working to control her Inner-Horseman, while seeking answers to the tattoo that's brought her so much misfortune. Unfortunately she, Van Tassel and Van Wrinkle run into another soul who's tortured by the accursed soul of Edgar Allan Poe... and more!
You know how a book can be destroyed? By listening to most of it, narrated by a voice so dead- so dull that you wonder if the person's alive! Because I had a road trip during the first half of this book, I listened to it as I drove. The narrator, Karen Krause, SUCKS! I don't know any other way of saying it- she just sucks. Her voice carried the smallest amount of excitement, anger, frustration... how in the world is she an actress, let alone performing voice-over. She destroyed Raven! At least, until I made it home and got back to my book. I was able to finish with my own voices and heard a much whittier Noah, Ireland carried sarcasm and Rip carried a slight English accent. Those were the ones that made this book and made me love the tale all over again!
The story was fueled by Ireland's need to be free of the curse and another's need to find their lost love, and hopefully save it. Raven was full of increased, witty banter and cracks that had me rolling on the floor with laughter. The story wanted for nothing and I have to admit, I never stopped turning pages. This story was just as exciting as book one, once I got back into the physical and away from the horrid voice that can truly ruin a book.
I carry two hopes: (1) that Rourke doesn't use Krause again and (2) The story keeps getting better and better! Ireland's doing damage!

Stacey warned me to be prepared for tears when I began Steam. I didn't know what she meant, but now I truly do. And she was right- in a way!
In Steam, there's a Sleepy Hollow crew! Everyone's there for this magnificent ending, but with even more big-time roles. H.G. Wells appears to them, slowly making his presence know... but why? It all comes out eventually, but what makes it all the more tantalizing is the second story. There be witches!
In the town of Salem, olden-days Salem, uh-huh, there is a small coven that is connected to the current mission of the S.H. crew. Working together, without singing it, their lives play out with a magnanimous ending. Yes, I used such a word because when it all happened, I was like, "No!" and some "Wow, I can see how that works and they'll understand..." and then I was like, "Aww man, but it works!" I was everywhere in my emotions!
It took me significantly longer to finish Steam, but not because it was boring or slow. I had summer vacation, author interviews (of which Rourke participated), a wedding to attend, two road trips and one wedding to make all the floral arrangements! I was busy, but not enough to prevent me from taking time and enjoying this amazing novel. I never offer up SPOILERS, but I can say this book was the best way to end the story and not destroy the legend. Hearts may be broken (and I mean HEARTS), but the story lives on!

I've read a series or two that couldn't keep me happy. I've read many that were so poorly executed, I thought I wrote it! Ha- just kidding. I've never written a series, but I can say that this series, The Legends Saga is perfect! Just the right amount of romance, history and folly to hold it all together and possibly become a movie? I saw that in the back of the book. If so, I'd surely watch it. Until then, I'll hold to the fascinating memories these three books supplied.
If you haven't read The Legends Saga, or are looking for a series to dive into, this is the one. I could give this series nothing but 5-specs. You'll find out why. On to my next read! 📚
