*Lessons of Love, Spirituality and Self-Acceptance from the Mid of an 'Introvert'.
Do you know an Introvert? Are you an Introvert?
This is going to sound strange, but I know many introverts. I didn't think they were, not until a particular conversation, or until I came across this book by Valarie Elena Stephens. The book is called The Quiet Thinker, and it tells what In Introvert is, how they think and feel, but most of all, Stephens shares how she was able to step out of her comfort zone with an acceptance of who she was, as well as explains how many never get to shine from fear of judgement...
I am definitely an extrovert, but only because I used to sit in introvert status, and it was maddening! I was always the new kid so I sat in a sort of bubble off and on most of my life, but the description Stephens gave on how she felt and lived was totally foreign to me! That's one of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much.
Stephens begins the book with an explanatory story- going to Pre-K for the first time. She shares the comfort of security, viewing her mother as a sort of safety net while moving about the class with other students, but when the second day arrived, when she had to go alone, everything was different. There was no security and everything felt wrong, off and frightening. It's a great share and excellent example but The Quiet Thinker is so much more. It goes deeper.
The author also describes how she had dreams of doing things most Introverts never dare too. She dreamed of travel, she sought a spiritual comfort, and she found a way to marry and have children. There's a cycle she's broken and you can feel your way through this book, into understanding her method, which may be 100% different from another's.
For anyone to open up and share what she did, is near heroic. I found it precious and special- unlike any book I've read in this genre. If you're interested, you can either visit Stephens on her website, by clicking on her name, or simply typing: The Quiet Thinker in your search engine.
I'm off to the next read. Cheers!
