by Elisabeth Crabtree
Some of the most craziest things can happen in the town of Hatter's Cove. For Kitty Kat (yes, her name is Kitty Kat), things happen no matter where she is- and something huge nearly happened to her on the evening of Valentine's Day. She was supposed to have died!
This is the story of The St. Valentine's Day Cookie Massacre, by Elizabeth Crabtree!
First off, I love her book covers! Usually, I feel animated book covers are for particular genre, but they all work for this author and her series. I also love the sassiness in the character's face, because it matches the character so much.
So the story is about Kat, wants to be a reporter. But she lives in a ridiculously small town where everyone knows everyone's business long before it needs to even hit the papers. Especially if you came from out of town! But when a body is found after a traumatic cookie event, it's up to Kitty Kat to solve the case, like a real reporter. But there are people looking to cause some serious harm to keep secrets, and a cookie recipe.
This book is not just wrapped in one of the prettiest covers out there, but it's so darned funny, you can't help but enjoy it. I don't think there were many chapters where I wasn't exasperated or flat out belly laughing! Elizabeth Crabtree writes a good crime tale, with proper ingredients like laughter, comic relief and suspense. That's what this book is!
